François Saulnier & Eva Laura Madar

Two magnificent French dancers trained between Paris and Buenos Aires. The "local" touch of the festival!

François Saulnier

François has been leading a tango movement for 10 years now in western Paris, Versailles and Saint-Germain-en-Laye, among other places. He is the founder of Association Abrace and the organizer of the festival Barjac en tango, in partnership with the town. He is also the artistic director of the Atelier Fleur, a new creative space, in Mériel, on the banks of the Oise and at the gates of Paris. L'Atelier Fleur welcomes the greatest artists of the current tango scene. A place of art and life that opens to other disciplines around art, movement and energy. François trained in tango between Paris and Buenos Aires and expresses in his dance all its richness and its artistic dimension. He is also known to be an excellent pedagogue.

Eva Laura Madar

Eva is the Stage Tango Champion of the Baraderos Festival 2019 and co-founder of Coach In Tango. Interview.

« At 21 years old, I followed my instinct and took a one-way ticket. »

Eva, how do you live your life as a dancer and tanguera in Buenos Aires?

I think I have fallen at the right time and in the right place and on beautiful people! My first milonga in Buenos Aires was La Catedral and since that day, my social life of tanguera has been continuing to flourish. Today, I live in an incredible house surrounded by tango artists, dancers and musicians. I live myself in a dance hall converted into a house! The dream of every dancer!

But how did you come to live in the capital of Argentina?

A year after discovering tango in Paris, I decided to go to the sources of tango in Buenos Aires with the encouragement of several tango friends in France. I was 21 years old and I wanted to take off for adventure. I followed my instinct with a one-way Paris-Buenos Aires. It was stronger than me. I knew I was going to look for something important through this trip without really knowing what I was going to find.

What do you feel when you dance the tango?

It depends a lot on how I feel and also with whom I dance, each abrazo and each music makes me go through different emotions and feelings. It is a source of freedom and appeasement as soon as I meet a sincere and warm abrazo. From sadness to happiness, all pretexts are good to dance the tango!
